The Terrible Twos

Eric's most used phrase is definitely, "I don't .... anymore!" This is usually said in what you could best call "an outside voice" and at worst a screech.

Last night at dinner Darrel started counting how many times the phrase was used, we were up to six in about 5 minutes, lol! And then we forgot to keep counting in order to try and keep the gong show contained.

In some ways, if you stay emotionally detached (and I turn down my hearing aids), it is quite entertaining. It doesn't help his little two year old ego when we laugh at his antics. Particularly when as soon as he says something like, "no, I don't want a drink of water anymore!" and we say, "Ok, you don't have to have one." and he then howls like we've done the cruelest thing ever and yells for a glass of water.

Honestly, just as all the child development books tell you, two year olds really are bizarre little creatures. Jack was never quite like this...at least I don't remember him being like this. Maybe because he wasn't talking as much as Eric is. Eric has such a large vocabulary that I think he can say more than he can actually figure out. If that makes sense. Although one night this week I said to everyone, "Do you want to have a peach for desert?" and Eric looked up and said, "No I want pie." So who can say, maybe he knows more than I think.

One of Those Moments

This is definitely one of those parenting moments I want to remember. All you can do sometimes is laugh.

Summer Fun

I am glad we are heading to the sunny Okanagan this weekend. With the rain we've been having and the cooling off we've had at night it is feeling like fall in the air. I am definitely not ready for that to happen yet. We have not had enough fun yet!

Crossing Something Off My Life List

I was thrilled to learn yesterday that one of my scrapbook layouts has been accepted for publication in a magazine! Eeeeeeeeeek!
Every once in a while I send in a bunch of submissions...and I guess the 20th odd time or so is the charm. My Christmas layout will appear in the January/February issue of Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. This magazine is only a few years old and of course, since it focuses on Canadians only is a little easier to get published in. Darrel was teasing me about being a big fish in a little pond, to which I replied that I'm just glad to be in the pond at all. Seriously, this was on my "things to do before I die" list and I'm pretty ecstatic.

My Sunflower Corner

The northwest corner of our backyard was turned into a sunflower patch this summer, and I love it! Who knew there were such a variety of sunflowers! It really makes me happy looking at it.

Some Macro Shots

Earlier this week I took some photos in my garden with the macro lens that Judy gave me. I haven't fully figured out all the intracacies of using this lense with my camera but I had fun playing. The depth of focus is really shallow, totally blurring out the background of the photos, making for some interesting photos. I think I have some work to do though, playing with the f stop to put a little bit more in focus.
