Good News!
It has been five days now that I'm feeling quite a bit better, hopefully this is a long term trend!
Today at my pre-natal appointment we heard Baby C's heartbeat. At only twelve weeks, this little person is a keener! (My doctor said, "That's good, usually we can't hear the heartbeat unless the Mother is very skinny." I don't think he MEANT to imply I wasn't skinny but I did have to laugh. Thanks, thanks a lot, way to knock the pregnant lady while she's down.) Well congrats to Baby C for having a discernible heartbeat -and that means there's likely only one of he or she. :)

What Happened in August
I really admire scrapbookers who capture every day life in their albums. Sometimes I think I only scrapbook the big stuff -birthdays and vacations and milestones. But I really want to be able to look back and remember the normal regular life kind of things we did together. So with that in mind, that's what these month by month summary pages are intended to do. The pictures aren't always the best (sometimes blurry and weird colours) and what we're doing isn't exciting, but it's us.

Gingerbread Building
The boys and I built a gingerbread house yesterday afternoon. Given how I've been feeling I decided to go easy on myself and buy one of those pre-made kits. Well! What have I been thinking doing one from scratch every year??? We spent more time just enjoying the decorating of our store made gingerbread and I wasn't stressed about the icing being thick enough, or having it look perfect because I already spent three hours mixing and rolling and baking. I'm definitely going to use this time saver again! The boys really did have a fun time and are proud of their creation.

Food Aversions
It truly is bizarre how pregnancy affects your palate. With Jack I wanted to eat sushi all the time, multiple times a week if possible. I craved it all the time. With Eric I particularly enjoyed Indian food and spicy things. I am beginning to think that this Baby is a vegetarian, and in particular dislikes beef with a passion. On Friday night I ate three bites of my taco salad before having to push it aside and eat cereal for supper. The other bizarre thing is that I really dislike salsa right now. (I know SALSA!) It's so surprising because salsa used to be my go to condiment, it went on everything, eggs, grilled cheese and ham sandwiches, chicken, and of course with nacho chips. Now even the thought of salsa makes that feeling come at the back of my throat. Sigh, what is a mama to do?!
On the bright side, Baby C LOVES candy cane fudge crackle ice cream from Superstore. :)
