Mexico III

Mexico II

Pelicans are kind of an inside joke for Darrel and I. When we were first married I tried to take pictures of the Pelicans on the Red River near Winnipeg and my camera panning always missed those pesky fast flying birds. This one was kind enough to stand still and preen itself on the ferry dock.

Mexico I

I loved so many things about our trip to Mexico. It may take me a bit to document them all, here's the first little bit.

Finally, Justification for my Inner Laziness

Loved this (almost tongue in cheek) blog post on Peaceful Parenting. Really jives with many of my own inner thoughts on parenting (except maybe the drinking alcohol without guilt part), even if I'm not good at leaving well enough alone some times.

Pics from our trip are coming, not quite there yet. Apparently I need to ignore the children a little bit more so I can get my own stuff done.

Just for Laughs 2

And this is for Darrel.

Just for Laughs

This is for you Kar. :)

Valentines

So here is what I DID do for Valentine's Day. I should restate what I posted the other day. It's not that I think people who do go all out and decorate cookies for half a day are ridiculous, it's the thought of ME attempting to do it that is ridiculous. Unlike others, (say my fabulous cousin Amber), for whom this food wonderfullness comes naturally to, I am not really that talented in this area. (Go back to January 2007 in my blog and look at Jack's birthday cake and you will see.) So to frustrate myself and spend all that time and effort to come up with crummy results is crazy. Plus, I really wouldn't be doing it for my kids, it would be so I could show off and be "the greatest Mom ever", but I can't really pull it off. However, I can pipe icing onto cupcakes and stick a candy on top. Yay me! These valentines aren't too shabby either, if I do say so myself. The boys had a lot of fun putting the treat bags together, and I enjoyed doing it with them. And we didn't spend all day.

Crazy Thoughts

Every once in a while the Type A, Over-reaching, Wannabe, mother in me gets crazy thoughts and I have to beat her into submission. I'm signed up to bring "sweets" to the boys valentine party at pre-school on Wednesday. The other day when I was thinking about what to bring, cupcakes popped into my head. Then I started looking online at different blogs and got thinking that I should make something like this:

Or this:

The crazy woman in my head was thinking, yeah, this tutorial makes it seem pretty easy, and I'd only be doing hearts, that's less complicated than woodland animals. They would be soooo cute, and the boys would love them!

Seriously, how ridiculous. The boys could care less, and frankly three and four year olds don't care that much about the decorations on cookies. No offense to the wonderful women who do stuff like this as a hobby, I'm impressed with your talent and fortitude, but seriously, who spends half a day decorating cookies that will be eaten in five minutes? Not me.

And So It Starts...Again

We're back in the meal shenanigans stage, probably will be for a couple more years now. Embrace the chaos!

Project 365

There's a strain/area/school of scrapbooking out there often referred to as Project 365. The idea is to document the little things in every day life, not just the highlights. The daily nitty gritty, hence the 365. I really do love layouts like this. They aren't really exciting right now but I think in twenty years these will be the ones that I treasure the most. Pictures of Eric's chubby hands decorating the front window, the boys playing lego together. Sweet little moments.
