As I told Karly this afternoon there are a number of ways I find time to read:
-I procrastinate cleaning my house. Really a perfectly clean and organized house is over-rated, right?
-My kids watch more TV than they probably should, (although not bad tv, those are educational shows!)
-When 'playing' outside with the kids I'm often sitting in a chair reading. Well for now at least...until the garden dries out and I can work in it.
-I don't watch a lot of TV -maybe 3 hours a week, so reading replaces the time that a lot of people spend on that.
-And probably the biggest way: I get less sleep than I should. This is a long standing bone of contention in our marriage, Darrel says that I can't complain about being tired if I stay up late, and he's right, but I do crave some "me" time at the end of the day. I justify it by saying that I sleep a lot better if I can unwind by reading first. Which is technically true, but I should probably stop reading before I have to prop my eye lids open.
In the end reading has always been an outlet for me, so I think of it as a safeguard for my sanity. It's more the case of trying to not go overboard and ignore the rest of my life and read all day than trying to find time to read. It's my own little form of OCD. :)
