Exciting and Not so Exciting Happenings

This layout pretty much sums up our month, we have been waiting and wishing for spring. We had snow the May long weekend, brrrr! Mother Nature redeemed herself in time for Tina and Dale's visit on the 20th - 24th, I actually got a sunburn. Dale and Tina willingly helped us with our projects -jackhammering out part of the driveway to repair the rotted header plate, planting the garden areas and general kid entertaining/wrangling. As always it was delightful to see them, and if they continue to work for free when they come we'll have to conveniently forget to drop them back off at the airport. Winnipeg Schminipeg.

Tonight Darrel and I planted the sunflower corner in the backyard and discovered that my soaker hose that I WAS in love with leaks water into the garage if it is left on too long. Sigh -enough with leaky foundations. To be fair it was on for three hours, but the garden is super dry. (Even with snow 9 days ago.) Why can't anything be easy, seriously. Oh well, next year I will revise my garden plan and go back to not planting anything too close to the garage.

And finally, Darrel wanted me to blog a snippet of a conversation with Jack:

Eric had hurt himself and in consolation Darrel was saying that Eric was pretty tough. To which Jack replied, "Yeah, almost as tough as a can opener." Ahhh, one of the first uses of simile by our kids...not super poetic and a little random but interesting.

As a side note, lately Jack is really into opening cans, he wants to have soup for lunch every day just so he can open the can. I've had to substitute having peaches for desert just to give him something to open without having to make mushroom soup for the umpteenth day in a row.
