Julie's Birth Story

You think you will never forget an experience like labour but of course you do. (Nature's way of making you want to have more than one child.) So I've tried with each of the kids to write down what happened at their birth.

Julie's birth was so different for me than Jack and Eric's. First of all, she was toying with me for a couple of weeks. Lots of pre-labour and false labour contractions. (Including one ten hour stretch of contractions every ten minutes on the Saturday/Sunday before she was born.) And then when I finally did go into labour it was very different from how it had been with the boys. One thing I was grateful for was that I did not throw up once during her birth. With both of the boys I was throwing up the entire time. In fact, on the way to the hospital with Jack I actually had to open the car door at a red light and throw up on the road. Fun times let me tell you. It's really amazing what you can be grateful about while you are experiencing extreme pain. The other good thing was that the entire labour was during the day. No lost sleep, no bone numbing weariness for either Darrel or myself. Hooray! Things happened really quickly. In reality I wouldn't say I was really in labour until Dr. Stecyk broke my water at 1:00. Up until then I could walk around and felt pretty good actually. So, under three hours is pretty decent I'd say!

I love to hear birth stories! They are so important for the mommy and the baby. I'm glad you've recorded this for you and Julie down the road. Good job, Mom!

You have me getting excited for my little ones arrival :)
The layouts are lovely- she is dangerously cute- has me thinking I should try again and "go for the girl". I am thinking this time around, because of the party going on in the room and it may be my last time giving birth (ironically said last time) I might use the epidural. Thanks for sharing the birth story. I can't believe one week has passed already.

Oh Kirsten, Julie is so cute and beautiful. I can't believe it! When I first saw the pictures, I was shocked at how much she looks like you! We are so thrilled for your family. I love your pictures. Enjoy the colour pink because you will see lots of it! Thanks so sharing your wonderful news. Caroline and I have been excited for the birth of your baby. Caroline called me Sunday to tell me that she called her brother who told her that you and Darrel weren't at church, so we were anxiously waiting for your blog posts! Yeah!
