When I was a teenager I performed in a Christmas Choir every year. The director of the choir was a lady in our church who managed to rally 50+ chatty, noisy and not necessarily musically talented youth into a not too bad choir. (The real reason most of us were there was to check out the opposite gender -it actually was in some ways the place to be on Sunday nights.) Every year the capstone of our conert performance was Handel's Hallelujah Chorus -a beautiful but somewhat challenging piece of music. It has some crazy high notes and requires very good timing and diction or it sounds pretty bad.
Now that I've been a youth leader I have a much, much greater respect for this dear lady. She passed away a year or two ago from cancer and when I heard the Hallelujah Chorus on CBC radio this week it made me think of her, her faith in us, and the opportunity she gave us. I hope she's directing more heavenly choirs now. :)
Here's a link to a spectacular version of the Hallelujah Chorus. Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the link. I love the look of your blog. You have such an amazing talent.
PS
Tell Merlin that I said "hi" and he is invited to look at my blog- thanks for asking :)
That is a really lovely memory. Bless that woman for directing a youth choir!
