Well, this was likely the last year we get away with not taking the kids out trick or treating. Jack was a fireman but stayed home to hand out candy, (and eat from our bowl), rather than brave the cold. Lucky us, the other parents who came by said they were freezing. I think the kids are warm and toasty from candy adrenaline and it's really the parents who suffer! The candy eating at our house actually started much earlier in the day, come about 3 o'clock I just gave up and thought, go for it, eat all the licorice you want. Why try to stop the inevitable really?

As you can see, fireman Jack didn't quite trust our pumpkin with it's open flame. I thought I'd have to keep him out of it but he usually maintained quite a distance between himself and the pumpkin, when we were taking pictures with he and Darrel by the pumpkin he cried when Darrel tried to put him too close. I had great fun carving this ghosty pumpkin, I love those pumpkin templates you can find online. Next year we may have to do more than one! For someone who HATED Halloween as a child I have become a fairly good supporter of this holiday I have to say. (Probably because I'm not the one feeling the pressure to dress up.)

Your little fireman has a healthy respect for fire: what a smartie! He looks cute and your jack o'lantern is professional. Way to go!
Wow- so much snow already! How do Edmonton kids trick-or-treat? Do they cover their costumes with winter jackets?
Jack makes a fine firefighter- he is ready to go to work with his Papa.
