The Weather Outside is Frightful...

Well, at least one radio station was calling our snowstorm a blizzard. The snow is falling pretty hard and fast. The boys and I went into Fort Saskatchewan this morning before I realized how yucky the roads were, but I've canceled my haircut appointment for tonight. You know, I've never really had to winter highway drive on a regular basis -I'm discovering I don't like it. Too bad so sad, it's a Canadian reality and if you live "in the country" there's just no escaping it.

Jack loves to brush his teeth, and doesn't like the brushing time to be cut short. I end up letting him wander around with his toothbrush hanging out of his mouth.

I've been asked to work in the Young Women's organization in our new ward. I'm kind of excited to be back with the youth. It was nice having a break, (prior to our move to Alberta I had been in RS for about 6 months), but the youth are usually a lot of fun. I am teaching the beehives, which isn't my first choice. I say this with a smile because this class is the 12 and 13 year olds. Twelve and 13 year old girls, in my experience, have all the hormones and drama that comes with teenagers without any of the maturity or perspective. On the other hand, they are very enthusiastic, and if you can win them over with love they can be quite pleasant. Time will tell. My goal in this calling is to be enthusiastic and committed right off the start. Sometimes in the past it has taken me a while to learn to love a calling and be cheerful in it. So this time I want to just enjoy it right off the bat and take joy in serving where needed.

Hmm big bangs coming from the bedroom where Jack is "napping". Better run! Posted by Picasa

Congratulations on your new calling. In my experience, Beehives are the best because they still have a little fear and respect in them! Working with girls will be a nice change of pace from your boys, I hope. You will be wonderful!

I had no idea what "beehives" are, so I looked it up at Wikepedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beehive_%28LDS%29) - not much there. Maybe your beehive girls can have a project enlightening the rest of us what they are all about?

Sounds like potential fun- the beehives not the snowstorm. Good timing to whip up some yummy hot chocolate and enjoy great canadian central heating (only large stores I think have it here in Northern Honshu).
