We've really relaxed our bedtime routine at our house lately. We've noticed how much better (and longer) our kids sleep if we let them stay up a little later so we're not so eager to get them off to bed right at 7pm. Frankly, I'd rather have them up an extra 1.5 hours and sleeping through the night. So this gives us more time in the evening to spend together, and this was last night's highlight. The boys are delighted with Darrel's purchase from the annual Gibbons garage sale. (I'm delighted with the rain barrels we found and my snowman cookie jar but they don't have the same pull with the kids!) Once again I am reminded that Dads are different than Moms. While I look at these pictures and part of me is nervous as nobody is wearing helmets and my little Eric will get some serious road rash if they bite it, Darrel looks at this and just thinks fun. I think it's also a boy thing, danger smanger is what they say. The physics "forces diagram" is a tribute (if that's the right word) to our university days. We both drew quite a few of these diagrams. (And then I moved on to Poli Sci, hooray!)

It's delightful to see dads and kids enjoying themselves so thoroughly! And I'm with you on being scared of the cracked skull and road rash!
